Contrast is adjustable using the scaling on the vertical axis of the Spectrogram
display. Select the y-axis and rotate the control knob to adjust the contrast of the
display or press the front-panel Rescale button. Horizontal expansion in the x-axis
of the display can be used to closely examine the area around one of the spectral
components.
In Multitone mode the choices are Point Plot and Table display.
Point Plot. Point Plot is a plot of settled data points with a choice of plotting only
points, lines, or points with interconnecting lines.
Table. The acquired data is displayed in tabular format showing the vertical axis
values in left column and the horizontal axis value in the right column.
Input Range
Input range can be set to a range that matches the dynamic range of the input signal
amplitude. Input Range settings can be made either through the Main Menu Input
selections in the FFT application, as shown in Figure 4-40, or through the Configure
menu for Input Selection. There is a choice of 12 range steps and an auto selection
that looks at the incoming signal and sets the input range accordingly.
NOTE. If the manual gain is set too high, the applied signal can overdrive the A/D
converter and clip the incoming signal. This condition produces erroneous
measurement;, therefore, setting the gain to auto is the usual manner of operation to
avoid this possibility.
